May 2008- Break Thru Ministries begins clearing the lot to build our new house! We go ahead and put our house on the market, thinking it's going to take a while.
June 2008 - We get a pretty decent offer on our house and decide to take it. The house officially sold after only 29 days on the market. We have one month to find a place to go...with an 80-lb dog...that is semi-close to camp. Our new house at camp is NOWHERE near ready at this point.
July 15ish, 2008 - No luck finding a temporary place to live that doesn't require us to sign a six-month lease or that will allow Cooper. We decide to live in a 500-square-foot cabin (yes, that's right) at camp so that we can be right there as the house is being built. And when I say "cabin," I mean for campers. I'm not talking some nice cozy cabin with a crackling fire in the fireplace, I mean a cabin...at a camp...for campers. The accommodations are great for groups who come and visit for a week or a weekend. Mostly, these guests only sleep and shower in the cabins. We, however, were in it for the long haul. No kitchen, no washing machine, no dishwasher. (See pictures later on in blog.) We are so thankful to the ministry for allowing us to make so many memories living in a cabin!!
July 25, 2008- Moving day. Sooooo excited and a tiny bit sad. After all, it was our very first home, we had lived there for six years, and we got Cooper and had Owen while we lived there. Time marches on...
We were blessed to have so many people help us move. Moving day was incredibly smooth, actually. By the end of the day, our cabin was all set up and decorated and was even feeling a little homey. (See pictures.) Owen spent the night with his Pop & Nonni, so we at least had one night to crash without him. Cooper was incredibly confused and nervous.
August 20, 2008 - We celebrated Owen's first birthday at the beach with Ben's family. How special! He loooooved the sand and hated the waves! He finally got used to the pool by the time we left.
August 30, 2008 - Owen's birthday party at camp! (See pictures.) Unfortunately, Hurricane Gustav decided to rain on our parade and prevented my mom and grandparents from traveling to the party. It was still a great day, though.
September, 2008 - Ben turns the big 2-9!
November 2008- Two weeks before Thanksgiving our new house is ready! And we are so THANKFUL! What an experience we had at the cabin. No regrets! We'd do it all over again if given the chance.
We've now been in our house for almost three months, and we are LOVING it! God has been so good to us, allowing us to live right in the middle of His beauty! Owen loves to play outside and especially loves his neighbors - William (13), John-Bailey (11), and Nathan (9). Cooper is right at home here in the woods. He has had a few moments of weakness when the ducks are right up close to our house, but for the most part, he stays out of the lake. Ben is loving not having to drive 45 minutes to work and 45 minutes home each day. He just walks out our front door, and there he is! And I am just enjoying being here, period. It is so beautiful and peaceful, and it's neat to be right in the middle of what God is doing out here.
So there you have it. I'll be posting pictures of the cabin and of the house later on. I'm still getting the hang of this blog thing! Enjoy the pictures and videos below!
Love,
Cammie
